Hi.
My sound card does not support stereo mix, so I'm wondering if there's something I can use to record from the sound card? I can upgrade the sound card, but when I did, all sounds came out crackly, so I'm not trying again. it's the normal sigma tel sound card that comes with dell laptops.
what sound card did you upgrade to? I'd get an inexpensive usb sound card if aall you need is to be able to record in stereo .. The behringer uca202 is about $30 and about as cheap as you can get and it has 2 RCA ins for stereo recording.
Hi.
If i remember right from another board you are using windows 7?
If this is the kace i heard that windows vista and windows 7 disable stereo mix but there is a way to bring it back. I don't know how since i use windows xp still but i think it is not a matter of the soundcard but the operating system. Hopefully somebody else who knows can tell you how to fix it.
I'd like to be able to record from the sound card but A. I use Vista and Stereo Mix is disabled and B. I've never been able to come up with a good balance between the microphone volume for my voice and the stereo volume of whatever I'm recording.
I was able to record from the sound card in my acer aspire One but can't with my IBM Thinkpad X32. I'm using the same software that I used with the netbook, Stepvoice sound Recorder, and I checked the appropriate options under audio in the XP control panel, but it still won't work. the only way I could get it to record from there is with a patch cord. I also use a y adapter and headphones so that I can check the progress of the recording. anyway, it's a nice fix but I'm still curious about this. I also can't get my desktop to record from the sound card, but I'm not sure of the make and model, so can't give any info on it until someone reads it to me. My IBM uses something called soundmax if that helps. I believe that's the name of the card as well as of the software used to control it.
Hey.
You could use Virtual audio cable.
It's awesome for piping audio from one program to an other.

Hmm, I've never heard of that. I'll have to try it. Like I said, the patch cord works and it's very small but sometimes, I'd like to just be able to record without having to worry about it. This will help alot. Thanks.
